Fire District Aide


Under the direction of the Fire Marshal, the position is assigned to non-emergency tasks supporting the general operation of the District, the Exterior Hazard Abatement, Fire Hydrant, Smoke Detector, Car Seat Safety and Public Education Programs.

Essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following: perform administrative assignments supporting the general operation of the District including distribution of interdepartmental mail, vehicle maintenance, and routine business; respond to telephone calls and in-person questions and requests regarding general Fire District operations; respond to complaints and requests for information relating to exterior fire hazards from the public and District staff; clean and maintain administrative offices, grounds and equipment; conduct public education activities including special events; support of the District's Smoke Detector Program, educate residents on proper installation and maintenance of smoke detectors, install and maintain single station smoke detectors in residences as assigned; issue and enforce fire prevention regulations, including exterior hazard abatement and general fire hazard notices; conduct general maintenance and flow test fire hydrants; conduct risk assessments of residential properties and make recommendations for property owners to implement to reduce the risk of ignition resulting from exterior fires; attain and maintain certification as a Car Seat Safety Technician, educate and assist the public on proper installation of child safety seats, assist with car seat safety events; participates in periodic training relating to job duties; maintain electronic and paper records relating to their assignments.
