Just after noon on October 28, 2013, Moraga-Orinda Fire District personnel responded to assist Cal Fire, EBMUD Rangers, East Bay Regional Parks and Richmond Fire at the scene of a wildland fire along San Pablo Dam Rd near the North entrance to the recreation area.

The fire appeared to have started along the west side of the road at the base of a very steep road cut. Firefighters had to use ladders from their structure engines to pull hose up the slope. Heavy eucalyptus fuels, fire-weakened trees that could fall on personnel working below and the steep slopes were all safety concerns. The Fire District was able to respond with a water tender, two engines, and two overhead. The fire caused San Pablo Dam Road to be closed for about 2 hours and burned about an acre.

Cal Fire is investigating the cause.
