The Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) is considering relocating the northeast Orinda Fire Station on Via Las Cruses (Station-43) to a new site on El Nido Ranch Road.  The proposed location will position the fire station 0.7 miles from its current location.

With the closure of Contra Costa County (Con Fire) Fire Station-16, fire protection has been reduced in northeast Orinda.  The loss of the crew at Station-16 triggered Con Fire to propose co-locating the MOFD station with the closed Con Fire Station.  This movement would increase fire engine travel-times in northeast Orinda to approximately 531 homes by 1 to 90 seconds and decrease travel-times to approximately 595 homes by 1 to 90 seconds.

The proposed station would continue to be staffed and operated full-time by the MOFD as a public agency partnership between the MOFD and Contra Costa County Fire.  The anticipated partnership will save the MOFD approximately $1 Million annually.

Come share your opinions and ideas, and help guide the recommendations that will be presented to the Board of Directors.

Residents of northeast Orinda are encouraged to attend and invited to participate in the discussion of this proposal.
