Red Flag Warning in Effect for the San Francisco Area Including Lamorinda

Posted: 15-Jan-2014 A Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 8 am PST Thursday for gusty winds and low humidity for the North Bay Mountains and East Bay Hills. A Red Flag Warning is issued by the National Weather Service and it means that the combination of dry fuels, gusty winds and low humidity will create critical fire weather conditions where any new Ignitions will experience rapid fire growth. The warning also alerts land management agencies to the potential for widespread new ignitions or control problems with existing fires, both of which could pose a threat to life and property.

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District has increased staffing and equipment in order to provide for additional resources if needed to ensure the highest level of public safety.  In addition, agencies that surround MOFD, including CalFire, have also increased staffing and equipment during Red Flag warning conditions. MOFD reminds all District residents to use caution when using or to avoid using any machinery that may produce any sparks. For more information, please contact Fire Prevention at 925-258-4599.
