Battalion Chief Ed Borden
With over 32 years experience in the fire service, Ed Borden started his
career working for the Dixon and Vacaville Fire Departments in Solano
County. After attending Daniel Freeman Hospital Paramedic School, he
joined the Moraga-Orinda Fire District in 1982 as a
Firefighter/Paramedic. Borden was then promoted to Fire Captain in 1988
and served in that capacity for 18 years.
In 2006, Borden earned the rank of Battalion Chief, where he currently
presides over the District’s Emergency communications needs, including
internal/external radio and data transmission. He is also the Personnel
Officer responsible for recruitment, hiring, and
licensing of staff.
Borden is a California State Certified Chief Officer, Fire Officer, and
Peace Officer. In addition, he is an active member of the International
Association and the California Conference of Arson Investigators. A
graduate of Cal State Long Beach, Borden possesses a Bachelor of Science
in Occupational Studies and an Associate of Science Degree in Fire
Science from Solano Community College. Borden has taken courses at the
California Specialized Training Institute and the National Fire Academy
in Emmetsburg, Maryland. He is currently working towards certification
