Darrell Lee, Support Services,
The Moraga-Orinda Fire District Support Services is responsible for a broad array of service areas that are essential for maintaining operational readiness. These include maintenance of facilities, fuel, supplies, communications equipment, computers, telecommunications and project management for new facilities or remodels.
The MOFD Emergency Medical Services is lead by the Division Chief and CQI Coordinator. Firefighter EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics facilitate rapid response to the scene of a medical or traumatic emergency, insure appropriate field treatment and stabilization of patients, providing rapid transport to the hospital or specialty care center. This team of skilled individuals collaborating within the organization is essential to the success of the EMS Program.
Moraga-Orinda Fire District will be part of a new East Bay Regional Communications System (EBRCS). The EBRCS is the 800 MHz, 700 MHz system being designed and developed through a partnership of public safety entities throughout Contra Costa And Alameda Counties. The purpose of the EBRCS is to assure that public safety agencies can communicate seamlessly with other jurisdictions under emergency conditions as well as every day operations. Events such as the Oakland Hills Fire and Columbine High School clearly display the problems that arise, and the tragedies that result, when disparate radio systems are the norm.
