Submittal Procedure for Fire District Review

IMPORTANT - There may be a HOLD on building department inspections if you do not obtain Fire District approval prior to construction.

Applicant Submittal Requirements

The Fire District reviews construction activities that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Commercial / industrial tenant improvements
  • Commerical / industrial / residential / other Change of Use
  • New construction commercial / industrial buildings or additions
  • New residential dwellings
  • Residential additions, alterations or remodels
  • Residential additions that have an existing fire sprinkler system
  • Residential alterations that have an existing fire sprinkler system
  • Construction or modification to Fire Department access
  • Construction or modification to Fire Department water supply
  • Hazardous process regulated by CBC, CFC Title 24 or MOFD Fire Code
  • Gates, driveways and new roads
  • Commercial kitchens
  • Changes in land use
  • New subdivisions

Submittal Requirements:

  • Submit plans at the MOFD Administrative Office 1280 Moraga Way, Moraga.
  • A completed Application for Plan Review.
  • A minimum of three complete sets of plans.  All proposed plans are required to be drawn to scale on full-size blue line prints.  Indicate the  existing conditions, location, nature and extent of the scope of the proposed work in sufficient detail to demonstrate conformance to Fire District codes and standards and all other applicable state requirements.

Note - The above list does not include deferred submittal requirements.

  • We accept cash, checks (and credit cards coming soon).  When paying with cash, please have exact amount.
  • Plan reviews take approximately 1-2 weeks.
  • We do NOT do over-the-counter or fast-track plan reviews.

Please submit two sets of plans, along with a completed Plan Review Application and the required deposit, to the Fire Prevention Office.

Fire Code Permits

NOTE:  Applications for Fire District Fire Code Permits MUST be submitted at least two (2) weeks prior to event date.

Instructions on obtaining a Fire District Fire Code Permit:

  • Complete an Application for Fire District Fire Code Permit
  • Submit the permit application and pay the permit/inspection fee (see Permit & Inspection Fee Schedule or call 925-258-4525 for permit/inspection fees)
  • Once your application has been reviewed, the Assistant Fire Marshal will contact you to schedule an appointment for  inspection
  • The inspector will issue your permit during the inspection appointment
