Public Announcement

Draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)

The Moraga-Orinda Fire District’s Draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is available for public review and input.  The CWPP is designed to serve our residents, and therefore we encourage your interest and engagement.

CWPP Community Meetings:
MOFD staff will host a series of community meetings to explain the draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) and to begin the process of gathering community input. These meetings are intended to be the starting point in a lengthy process of engagement and consensus-building, which is integral to the development of a meaningful CWPP.  Community Wildfire Protection Plans were created by the Healthy Forest Restoration Act of 2003 and are designed to help a community develop a shared understanding of wildfire and wildfire management. These plans identify and prioritize areas for hazardous fuel reduction treatments and recommends the types and methods of treatment that will protect one or more at-risk communities and essential infrastructure, and recommends measures to reduce structural ignitability throughout the at-risk community. In addition, having a CWPP qualifies our community for priority funding for hazardous fuels reduction projects carried out under the Healthy Forests Initiative.

All interested members of the community are encouraged to attend. Virtual Meetings will be held via Zoom Teleconference.  Teleconference details are available on the meeting calendar or by clicking on the meeting date below.
