Firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District with assistance from CAL Fire, East Bay Regional Parks Fire and the East Bay Municipal Utility District Rangers will be working on a prescribed fire project this week (Wednesday, June 25).

 

The seven-acre project is located near the ridge North of Pinehurst Road at the Sogorea Te' Land Trust. The burn will help to restore native vegetation and improve wildlife habitat. It will help create a buffer between the wildland and homes in the area. The project will also serve as an introduction to cultural Rx fire for the Sogorea Te' Land Trust staff. MOFD is coordinating the project with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and CAL Fire's Santa Clara Unit.

 

Residents in the area should consider closing exterior doors and windows between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM to prevent smoke from entering their homes.
