Moraga, CA — At approximately 1353 hours, the Moraga-Orinda Fire District (MOFD) responded to reports of a vegetation fire in the 500 block of Rheem Boulevard in Moraga.

Upon arrival, the first-arriving engine company encountered a ¼-acre vegetation fire burning uphill, with homes immediately threatened. MOFD personnel initiated an aggressive initial attack, working quickly to extinguish the fire while establishing structure protection.

Thanks to the rapid response and coordinated firefighting efforts, the fire was contained to approximately one-half acre by 1412 hours. No structures were damaged, and there were no injuries reported at the time of incident.

Firefighters remained on scene through the afternoon to conduct mop-up operations and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
