Firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District will be working on a prescribed fire project tomorrow (Wednesday, 10/22/25). The three-acre project is located near Ridge Crest Rd, North of Pinehurst Road at the Sogorea Te' Land Trust.

 

The burn will help to restore native vegetation and improve wildlife habitat. It will create a buffer between the wildland and homes in the area. The project is an introduction to cultural Rx fire for the Sogorea Te' Land Trust staff.

 

MOFD is coordinating with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and CAL Fire's Santa Clara Unit. Residents in the area should consider closing exterior doors and windows between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM to prevent smoke from entering their homes. If burning conditions become undesirable the project will be postponed.
