Firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District will be assisted by CAL Fire, East Bay Regional Parks and East Bay Municipal Utility District to complete a shaded fuel break maintenance prescribed fire project near the community of Canyon. The four-acre project is located near Ridgecrest Rd, North of Pinehurst Road.

 

The burn will maintain the shaded fuel break, help to restore native vegetation and improve wildlife habitat. The shaded fuel break is a buffer between the wildfires and homes in the area.

 

MOFD is coordinating with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and CAL Fire's Santa Clara Unit. Residents in the area should consider closing exterior doors and windows between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM to prevent smoke from entering their homes.
