NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at its meeting held on January 21, 2026, the Board of Directors of the Moraga-Orinda Fire District adopted Ordinance No. 26-01 (Fire Code) and Ordinance No. 26-02 (WUI) by the following vote:

SUMMARY OF THE ADOPTED ORDINANCES:
Ordinance 26-01 – Fire Code: Every three years, new editions of the state building codes are published. The new codes and local amendments reflect changes in technology, fire safety techniques, and the building industry. These codes became the minimum standards for the State of California on January 1, 2026. Ordinance No. 26-01 reflects local amendments with more restrictive building standards reasonably necessary because of local climatic, geological, or topographical conditions. Through adoption of Ordinance No. 26-01, the Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District adopted a fire code consistent with state regulations. Under state law, the title of the ordinance was introduced on November 19, 2025, followed by a public hearing on January 21, 2026, after which the Board of Directors adopted the ordinance.
Ordinance 26-02 – Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Code: Ordinance 26-02 adopted the 2025 California Wildland-Urban Interface Code, along with local amendments and findings required under state law. These standards were adopted to improve wildfire resilience and apply certain standards District-wide based on local climatic, topographical, and geological conditions. Through adoption of Ordinance No. 26-02, the Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District adopted a Wildland-Urban Interface Code consistent with state regulations. Under state law, the title of the ordinance was introduced on November 19, 2025, followed by a public hearing on January 21, 2026, after which the Board of Directors adopted the ordinance.
CEQA DETERMINATION: The Board of Directors adopted a finding that both ordinances are exempt from review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for the reasons stated in each ordinance.
EFFECTIVE DATE AND RATIFICATION: These Ordinances shall take effect thirty (30) days after their adoption; however, the building standards in these Ordinances shall not take effect within any municipality located in the District until ratified by the governing body of that municipality. The building standards in these Ordinances shall not take effect within the unincorporated areas of the District until ratified by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa.
