Fire crews from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District will be burning piled material this week in the North Orinda Shaded Fuel Break between Bear Creek Road and Tappan Lane. The project is scheduled for April 13-16 (Monday-Thursday), with work beginning around 9:30 AM and ending by 4:30 PM each day.

MOFD is coordinating the burns with the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Our goal is to ensure the project objectives are met and operations are conducted safely, with minimal impact to the community. The project is part of the Fire District's investment in reducing wildfire risk and maintaining our Shaded Fuel Breaks.

If conditions become unfavorable, the work will be rescheduled. Residents in the Bear Ridge and Tappan Lane neighborhoods of Orinda, and motorists on Bear Creek Road, may see or smell smoke.   MOFD will continue to provide information related to the project on MOFD’s Facebook page.
