The District provides Medical and Dental benefits to retirees and their survivors.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

It is the responsibility of the retiree to notify MOFD Human Resources when there are any changes made to health or dental coverage.  Changes include domestic partnership termination, establishment of a parent-child relationship, deletion of dependent(s), acquisition of a dependent child, change of address, marriage, divorce, legal separation, and death.  Failure to notify Human Resources may result in adverse consequences.

Safety Personnel

Employees hired prior to April 15, 2014 receive medical and dental insurance contributions from the District when retiring with CCCERA.  Please find the rate charts below.

Safety retiree dental rates

Employees hired on or after April 16, 2014 will receive retiree medical insurance coverage when retiring with CCCERA in an amount equal to the PERS minimum health insurance contribution as set forth by PERS and/or applicable statute.

 Non-Safety Personnel

Full-time employees hired prior to July 1, 2014 will receive retiree medical and dental insurance contributions from the District when retiring with CCCERA.  Please find the rate charts below.

Non-safety retiree dental rates

Employees hired on or after July 1, 2014 will receive retiree medical insurance coverage when retiring with CCCERA in an amount equal to the PERS minimum health insurance contribution as set forth by PERS and/or applicable statute.  Part-time employees are not eligible for retiree medical or dental benefits.

MEDICAL COVERAGE

Moraga-Orinda Fire District contracts with the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) to provide health benefits to retired employees.  If you have a health plan or address change, please contact CalPERS directly for processing.

Open Enrollment Information

CalPERS health program open enrollment takes place each fall.  Changes made during open enrollment take effect on January 1st.

DENTAL COVERAGE

Moraga-Orinda Fire District contracts with Delta Dental to provide dental benefits to retired employees.  Human Resources processes all dental plan and address changes.  If you need to make changes to your dental plan, please contact Human Resources at HR@mofd.org / (925) 258-4599.
